Dr. Brittany Strawman
As a general dentist, I appreciate the fact that I don’t have to choose one particular area to focus on. I get truly excited when I have patients who have been unhappy with the appearance of their teeth for years, and finally decide to pursue the dental care that they need. I enjoy getting their input for how they would like their smile to appear, and then I am able to execute that treatment. The most exciting part of the process is when they look in the mirror and they are genuinely pleased with the result.
With the profession of dentistry becoming more and more focused on prevention, I can have interesting conversations about dentistry’s relationship to overall health, as well as functionality and aesthetic appearance. I feel that this open dialogue helps to take away a lot of the fear associated with going to the dentist, which is something we all want!
Education and Continuing Education
- Doctorate of Dental Surgery – University of Michigan School of Dentistry
- Master of Science in Biology – Bowling Green State University
- Bachelor of Science in Brain, Behavior, and Cognitive Science – University of Michigan
Continuing education is a vital aspect of being the best possible dentist I can be. Participating in CE allows me to stay up to date on the latest knowledge and techniques in dentistry, whether it is about replacing teeth with dental implants or writing prescriptions for medications. I want to make sure that I am providing the highest standard of care.
To that end, I go to monthly meetings with the Chicago Dental Society North Suburban Branch, and attend hands-on courses at the Ohio Dental Association and American Academy of Implant Dentistry Annual meetings.
Outside the Office
I recently got married and live with my husband in Lake Forest, IL. When I’m not in the office, I enjoy traveling, exploring museums and new restaurants, watching classic movies, and reading lots of books. When it is warm outside, my husband and I also enjoy hiking, riding bikes, and playing golf.
In my community, I am an active member in the Junior League of Evanston–North Shore. We raise money for grants and scholarships for non-profit organizations in the area and put on volunteer programs. I take pride in the Lake Forest community, so it is important for me to be involved with it.
